How to Start a Garden Design Business

Aspire to be a professional Garden Designer? Many people think garden design is simply about drawing attractive pictures of gardens whilst leaving either the client or a builder to install it. This workshop aims to shatter that myth by looking at the day-to-day skills set required to be successful in business.

Overview

A Garden Designer is a ‘jack of all trades’ – horticulturist, artist, designer, builder, project manager, architect, accountant… and that’s just the start. This one-day workshop will look at the skills required to be successful in your self-employed practice, to include business planning and marketing. It will enable you to see the broader picture of running a business, how to keep records, book keeping, tax, national insurance, business insurance etc.

This course is not an introduction to garden design as such, although the basics will be referred to. It is much more about business planning, logistics and the everyday skills of being self-employed.
