Functional Skills maths qualifications are designed to equip you with the skills you need to operate confidently, effectively and independently in education, work and everyday life.
Assessments will be taken at specific points in the year and you can re-sit assessments up to a maximum of three times in an academic year. For maths there is one exam for each level comprising a calculator and non-calculator paper. Once you have achieved one level, you will be encouraged to work towards the level above.
In addition to the two hour classes, you will be expected to complete ‘prep’ and homework tasks to practice what you have learnt in the sessions, prepare for the next sessions and to prepare for your exams. You are expected to complete a minimum of one hour study per week outside of maths lessons.
At the beginning of the course, you will complete an initial assessment to check your current level and to help us to identify your strengths and areas for improvement. You must do your best on this assessment so that we can support you to make progress.
