Overview

This introductory one-day course will provide you with the opportunity to learn basic hand sewing and machine sewing skills (as appropriate to your design) to create your own beautiful fabric flower brooch. From observing flowers and creating some basic sketches (drawing skills are not essential!) you will work out a plan to create the leaves and main part of the flower, using different felts and beads. The tutor will guide you on each step of the process. You will learn professional tips and tricks from our tutor and learn skills such as to how best create a simple working sketch and design, how best to coordinate colours, how to create basic hand stitches, or simply sew on a machine, how to apply beads and how to finish off with adhering the brooch backing on.

Equipment Info

Although all felt fabrics and beads will be provided and resources, you may wish to bring your own sewing resources to the course (i.e. your own felt colours or shears etc).

Please bring:

  • Packed lunch
  • Travel cup (with a lid) for tea/coffee

Entry Requirements

This course is suitable for beginners who possess very basic sewing skills in setting up & threading a machine and being able to sew straight stitch only. A great short course to boost your confidence!
