Functional Skills maths qualifications are designed to equip learners with the skills they need to operate confidently, effectively and independently in education, work and everyday life.
To achieve the qualification, you need to sit and pass two exams. The exams can be taken at different points in the year and you can re-sit up to a maximum of 3 times in an academic year. For maths, there are 2 exams for each level – calculator and non-calculator. You will complete mock assessments in each exam before being entered for the final examination.
In addition to the weekly classes, you will be expected to complete ‘prep’ and homework tasks to practice what you have learnt in the sessions, prepare for the next sessions and to prepare for your exams.
You need to:
At the beginning of the course, you will complete an initial assessment to check your current level and to help us to identify your strengths and areas for improvement.
You will need to buy a calculator and a maths set – your tutor will give you further information.
Functional Skills Level 2 is an essential requirement for employers, universities and to access a wide range of options for further study.
